National Public School, Gopalapuram, Chennai, hosted its 50th Annual Sports Meet with great zeal and excitement. The programme commenced with the Principal, Mrs Jayanthi Sampath welcoming the esteemed gathering. The Chief Guest, Group Captain Subramaniam Rajkumar, retired official from the Air Force, in his inaugural speech sports urged the students to do their best and play the game. An alumnus of National Public School, Mr. Rajkumar also spoke about the importance of having self- confidence.

Mr Hari Krishnan, Chief Executive NPS Group of Schools presided over the function. In his speech he emphasised the importance of sports in a child’s life and the need for every student to be focused and goal oriented. The most fascinating aspect of the event was the outstanding field drills, involving mass student participation. The students displayed the Pyramid formation and various yogic postures, thus mesmerising the audience with their enthusiastic performance. Once the relays began, the ambience was full of cheering and encouragement for the young athletes.

The events organised for the parents saw an impressive participation. The Radiance House emerged as House Champions. At the end of the day, Sports Secretary, Srinidhi proposed the vote of thanks and the students departed with a smile on their faces. It was a day filled with enthusiasm, sportsman spirit and memories to cherish.
