Flavours of India – Republic Day ‘Food Mela’
As part of the Republic Day celebrations, a vibrant and educational event titled ‘Flavours of India – A Celebration of Flavour and Unity’ was organized for Grade 9 students. The Food Mela aimed at fostering cultural awareness and culinary exploration was as much a treat to the eyes as it was to the taste buds, with the unique and diverse regional cuisines of India all tabled under one roof. Each house represented a different region and brought a minimum of five traditional dishes, along with themed decorations and presentations. Students demonstrated remarkable creativity in food preparation and presentation. Being dressed up in traditional attire, the sight of students serving up a sumptuous spread added an extra dash of interest and brought in the eclectic nature of intrinsic Indian cooking to the campus. Their food stalls were judged based on taste, regional authenticity, cleanliness, and overall presentation. The highlight of the event was the prize distribution ceremony which came by after posing a great challenge to the judges who had to choose from among nearly all-best- contenders. The event truly reflected India’s unity in diversity.
